Directory Listings
Consumers may be listed once in the alphabetical section without charge. Additional consumer listings for roommates, spouses, or children are available at a low monthly charge.
Business customers may have their primary number listed once in the alphabetical section, and once in the Yellow Pages, without charge. Your listing will be placed in the Yellow Pages under the classified heading you choose. If you choose not to appear in the Yellow Pages, you must sign a waiver. Additional business listings which assist customers in finding your business numbers are available at a low monthly charge. Additional business listings are also available to list your staff names alphabetically with your business telephone number.
Reducing Unwanted Telephone Solicitations
If you do not wish to receive telemarketing calls, you must register your phone number with the National Do Not Call Registry. This is a free service. You can register over the Internet at www.donotcall.gov or call 1-888-382-1222, TTY 1-866-290-4236, from the phone number you wish to register. Your number will stay registered for five years or until the number is disconnected or you remove the listing. If registered, you may file complaints regarding telemarketing calls with the Alaska Attorney General's Consumer Protection Unit or the Federal Trade Commission.
Having your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will not stop all unwanted solicitations. There are several exemptions to the law. For instance, if there is a "preexisting business relationship," a telemarketer can call you for a period of up to 18 months after your last transaction. Also, if the call is for the purpose of conducting a survey, is a political solicitation, or is a solicitation for a charitable organization, the Do Not Call Registry is not applicable. However, if you request that either the business or charitable organizations not telemarket you, that request takes precedence over the exemption.
Please note: Because of the effectiveness of this fee, national program, Alaska's Black Dot Law, has been repealed and is no longer available.
Line of Information
Line of information is a way to enhance your business and/or consumer listings. You can personalize your listing by adding just about any information you want - your children's names, location information, even special comments. There is a low monthly charge for each Line of Information, plus a sign-up fee.
